To introduce the idea of OPEN EDUCATION in Kiribati, iro OER, I would suggest KICOE a suitable name for Kiribati Education thinkers (leaders) to attract the attention of the 33 islands community Education enthusiasts. KICOE stands for “Kiribati Island Co-ordinators to Open Education”. A name is suitable for the first summit to the Kiribati islands Community Educators, selected from the 33 islands to be called to the first summit to promote and enhance OER in Kiribati.

In Nigeria, the Open Education is being coordinated for Universities by the National Universities Commission (NUC) through the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). In fact, it was via the NOUN and COL mooKIT platform(s) that I got information about this programme after successfully completing Introduction to OER Mooc with a Certificate of Achievement issued by NOUN/COL and another Certificate with Distinction issued by PACFOLD/COL. I have also completed Introduction to Statistical Analysis Course conducted at KISS/IGNOU awaiting certification. All these efforts came about as a result of post COVID-19 protocols which have brought a new vista in Education. So many trainings have been carried out with the International Computer Driving License @ICDLAfrica and University of Massachusetts. However, this has not transmogrified into Communities known to me. We have a coordinating unit in the ICT Directorate in my University that notifies anytime there is relevant development information inter alia.
