Do I need to have any special software to take OERu courses?
You will need the following software to participate in OERu courses:
- Web browser (recent version)
- Office productivity software: Word Processor and some courses may require spreadsheet software and / or presentation software (to create slide shows)
- Graphics software (required in some courses).
As an open organisation, the OERu respects user choice in software. You are not required to purchase any software licenses in order to participate in OERu courses. You will be able to complete all OERu courses using free and open source software (FOSS). Here are a few popular FOSS options you can download and use for free.
- Browser software: Firefox, Chromium (the open source version of Google Chrome.)
- Office productivity software: LibreOffice
- Graphics software: Inkscape, GIMP
