Policy in the education system- data driven decision making

Policy is needed for this sector since new challenges arises very often; for example with the onset of Covid -19 this brought many schools that were not equipped to use technology trying to quickly implement policy decisions without connecting the reality of what was actually happening in the schools and at homes.
Changes come about but without proper evaluation and consultation, a policy decision made without realistically understanding the challenges faced can have negative effects.
Data driven evidence and engagement with the stakeholders will be so beneficial instead of changing policy to suit changes that takes place- reactive approach. It will be difficult for the stakeholder to buy into the policy since they don’t feel part of it.
Change will take place only when meaningful discussion with the relevant persons involved; who are presently in the profession and dealing with the challenges facing them not someone who is in a position and cannot relate to challenges faced by teachers, parents and students.
